At least one lawmaker was aghast that Gov. Ron DeSantis decided to include on his veto list programs that benefit Broward County veterans, people with disabilities and at-risk students.
Broward County Schools, Arc Broward, Nova Southeastern University and the city of Sunrise had programs cut that, together, would have totaled $1.6 million in spending in a $3.1 billion budget.
That such minuscule items fell to the budget-slashing had Democratic Rep. Michael Gottlieb discouraged once again.
“The whole reason for being a public servant is to be able to help people like this,” said Gottlieb, who is Broward County’s delegation leader.
