The Fort Lauderdale City Commission has agreed to pay $375,000 to tech titan Elon Musk’s company for a feasibility studying a tunnel project that could cost upwards of $100 million, the Sun Sentinel reports.
The city’s idea is to build a 2.7-mile tunnel that will move passengers in Teslas between downtown and the beach. The study will investigate how much it will cost and whether it can be done.
The city is calling it the “Las Olas Loop — ” an innovative, cutting-edge solution to help address the city’s long-term transportation needs and ease congestion,” according to a a city press release.
