After a sluggish start to the season, the Marlins are picking up the pace.
They took two games out of three over the weekend against the defending American League champion Houston Astros. They were 7-19 at one point, but have rallied to improve their overall record to 27-31 and had won five in a row prior to Sunday’s series-ending 9-4 loss at Houston.
“Would have liked to drop the hammer today but we weren’t able to do that,” Marlins Manager Don Mattingly said.
Miami’s current 10-game road trip continues on Monday with the start of a three-game series at Philadelphia.
