As 100% federal reimbursement for COVID-19 tests dries up, so will the free tests for the Miami-Dade County’s uninsured, the Miami Herald reports.
More than a dozen sites will no longer offer the free tests starting in July. Without federal support for the tests, the county will incur “unbudgeted expenditures” that would “adversely” affect the county’s ability to provide other essential government services, according to a memo from County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava the paper obtained.
Insurance will be required at the site, the newspaper is reporting. Vaccines, however, will continue to be free for everyone, according to the article.
