Former North Miami Clerk Michael Etienne bought $60,000 in radio spots his first day running to unseat Rep. Dotie Joseph, a fellow Democrat seeking her third term in the Statehouse.
Etienne filed for House District 108 May 31. He then loaded his campaign with $63,000 of his own and bought ads on two South Florida Haitian stations.
Last year, he mounted a failed bid for North Miami Mayor. That came three years after he pleaded no contest to charges he’d used taxpayer dollars to visit Mount Rushmore.
Two other Democrats are running: former HD 108 Rep. Roy Hardemon and Jacques Joseph.
