Challenger’s fundraising outpaces longtime Miami Rep. for third-straight month

Democratic lawyer and entrepreneur Ashley Gantt is running to represent Miami’s House District 109 and her fundraising for the past three months outpaced the incumbent she hopes to unseat – one of the longest-serving incumbents in the House.

Democratic Rep. James Bush III was first elected Representative in 1992, and has been elected for two more stints. He’s currently seeking a third consecutive term, but progressive Democrats want him gone.

Bush cast the lone Democratic vote for the 15-week ban on abortion and also voted for the Parental Rights in Education law that regulates gender identity and sexual orientation school discussions.
