Miami has long been a place where U.S. professional sports teams left a large footprint.
But after the recent Formula One race and with the World Cup coming in 2026, planners want to turn Miami into an international sports city too.
“We had a vision to have a global entertainment destination here,” Tom Garfinkel, the CEO of the Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, told the Miami Herald. “With national championship games, Super Bowls, Miami Open tennis, certainly Formula One, obviously Dolphins games, and now we’re hosting the World Cup here in 2026, I think that vision is being realized.”
