Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony is facing a new round of scrutiny as a Florida Department of Law Enforcement panel has found probable cause to review whether he should lose his law enforcement certification.
The state Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission made the recommendation for a fuller review on Tuesday, the Sun Sentinel reports. A full review comes in August.
The complaint that resulted in Tuesday’s probable cause hearing wasn’t immediately available but an investigation began with the discovery that the Sheriff never disclosed on his official applications that he killed a man while a juvenile living in Philadelphia.
