Leading the Panthers to the best overall record this season in the National Hockey League wasn’t good enough for the team to hire Andrew Brunette as their permanent head coach.
Instead, veteran coach Paul Maurice gets the coveted job of taking a talented roster all the way to the Stanley Cup.
Panthers general manager Bill Zito said, “Paul’s experience and intellect were just what we were looking for and we are thrilled for him to step into the role of head coach.”
Maurice has been an NHL head coach since 1995, most recently for the last nine seasons with Winnipeg.
