Yvette DuBose, who’s running to represent District III on the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, has received the endorsement of Ruth’s List Florida, an organization aiming to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights.
A first-time candidate, DuBose would be the the first woman ever elected to the City Commission from District III and the first Black woman to be elected in the city in over 100 years, Ruth’s List Florida officials said.
DuBose is facing Pamela S. Beasley-Pittman to represent the seat that covers the central part of the city.
DuBose is a businesswoman who’s been active in community affairs.
