Even though the just-completed NBA Draft was said to be much deeper than normal, the Miami Heat probably didn’t expect to get a potential impact player. After all, the Heat could only watch as 26 other teams picked in front of them.
However, when their turn finally came, the Heat were pleased to find Nikola Jovic was still on the board. They took the 6-11 and 223-pound Serbian forward, who team President Pat Riley praised as “a burgeoning talent that you couldn’t pass up at 27.”
Miami Assistant General Manager Adam Simon added, “he’s got a base of a skill set.”
