Government relations specialist Kevin Marino Cabrera and Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors added five combined endorsements to their bids to succeed outgoing District 6 Miami-Dade Commissioner Rebeca Sosa.
Cabrera’s new backers include the 1,700-member Hispanic Police Officers Association and Miami City Commissioners Joe Carollo and Alex Diaz de la Portilla.
Fors scored support from the 3,700-member South Florida Council of Firefighters and the Miami Association of Realtors.
Cabrera and Fors are competing in the technically nonpartisan contest against each other, entrepreneur and radio host Dariel Fernandez and Miami Springs Councilman Victor Vazquez, the only Democrat running.
The election is Aug. 23.
