Melanie Surber of Delray Beach has received an appointment from Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve on the 15th Judicial Circuit Court.
Surber, a graduate of Boston University and Nova Southeastern University’s law school, had been serving as a Palm Beach County judge since 2019, when DeSantis appointed her to that position.
She will be filling the vacancy left when Judge Janis Brustares Keyser retired June 30 after 16 years in that position.
Before that, Surber had been working in the state Attorney General’s office as a senior assistant.
As a Circuit Court Judge, she will be presiding over major cases.
