Broward County’s effort to address the spike in rent could be running out of money, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
The county’s online portal to apply for rental aid will be closing Sunday and plans are it will reopen Aug. 18. The closure is happening because the county needs time to process the thousands of applications flooding in.
The county has given away about $7.8 million of the $22 million allocated for the effort to families who meet the income eligibility guidelines. Program officials say that they are not sure if anything will be left once the current 6,000 applications are processed.
