Even though a fellow South Floridian is also running for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, Broward County School Board Member Sarah Leonardi is endorsing Charlie Crist as the best candidate to unseat Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, the other Democratic candidate in the race, has lived most of her adult life in Broward County, but Leonardi cited Crist’s “servant’s heart” in her endorsement.
“Our children deserve a governor who will always stand by them,” Leonardi said, recalling DeSantis’ mask fight that targeted the Broward County School Board, anti-LGBTQ legislation and scrutiny of school materials. “That Governor is Charlie Crist.
