The off-season has been a little too quiet for the Panthers since they were swept out of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Their lack of salary cap space cost them two key contributors as forwards Claude Giroux and Mason Marchment head to free agency. They also lost defenseman Ben Chiarot, who signed with Detroit.
The Panthers also didn’t have a pick until the third round of the draft.
“We just don’t have the cap space. A lot of times you’re limited by the rules and by what you have,” General Manager Bill Zito said in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
