If at first, you don’t succeed … South Florida lawmakers are bringing back some of the projects that fell to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ veto pen under the Local Support Grants. A new pot of $80 million inspired 747 proposals that would total $634.5 million.
Democratic Rep. Michael Gottlieb, for example, requested $500,000 for a generator that would keep Arc Broward’s commercial kitchen humming during power outages to support residents with developmental delays who live there.
Democratic Rep. Robin Bartleman asked that $10,000 go to the Weston Music Society for professional musicians to visit elementary schools.
“I never give up,” Bartleman said.
