Injuries take a big bite out of Marlins

by Margaret Willard

Saturday’s game at Pittsburgh was a disaster for the Marlins, and losing the game 1-0 was the least of their problems.

Miami lost three players to injury in the game, including prized pitching prospect Max Meyer. A right elbow strain put him out after throwing 10 pitches in the first inning.

Third baseman/outfielder Brian Anderson suffered a left shoulder sprain, while reliever Tommy Nance has a right groin strain.

The Marlins put all three players on the injured list.

Miami also moved All-Star second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. and pitchers Cody Poteet and Anthony Bender to the 60-day injured list.
