The underside of the Miami-Dade Metrorail is about to be transformed into a 120-acre park, The Underline, and Wednesday Miami’s Sen. Ileana Garcia highlighted her part in securing $6 million in state funding for it through her efforts over the last two years.
“It’s innovative, tackles a real challenge in our community and has a direct impact on the quality of life of hundreds of thousands of families,” Garcia said as she presented the check with state and local officials.
The park’s completion is expected in 2025. Its amenities will include soccer fields, water fountains, dog parks and bike repair stations.
