Winner: Biscayne Bay. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced workers removed 56 tons of hurricane debris from the Biscayne Bay spoil islands. The effort, done with disaster relief contractor AshBritt Environmental, was the first such cleanup on that scale in decades.
Loser: Rhonda Rebman Lopez. It’s never a good look when your own party is funding efforts against your nomination. But that’s the case in HD 120, as Lopez seeks to unseat incumbent Republican Rep. Jim Mooney. Mooney topped Lopez in 2020. The Florida House Republican Campaign Committee is now funding ads to make sure it’s the same result in 2022.
