Six faith leaders from Miami-Dade and one from Tampa are suing Attorney General Ashley Moody and every State Attorney in Florida over the state’s new ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Clergy from Christian, Buddhist and Jewish backgrounds have filed five lawsuits with the 11th Judicial Circuit. All contended the ban violates constitutional rights to free speech, religious exercise and the separation of church and state.
The suits join other active challenges to the ban, which includes no exception for victims of rape or incest, filed by the ACLU of Florida and Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor in Boynton Beach.
