Ruth’s List Florida is giving Marleine Bastien a boost as she’s competing against five others for the right to represent District 2 on the Miami-Dade County Commission.
Ruth’s List Florida is dedicated to electing Democratic women who are for abortion rights.
The nonprofit executive is vying for the right to succeed Commissioner Jean Monestime. The inland district includes the county’s most impoverished areas.
Ruth’s List spotlighted her work establishing the Family Action Network Movement, which helps low- and moderate-income families.
“Bastien is an accomplished and award-winning community advocate,” the organization’s release said, noting that her organization has been widely recognized.
