Winner: Renatha Francis. Second time’s the charm. The Governor nominated Francis, a Palm Beach County judge, to serve on the Florida Supreme Court. Francis also secured a nomination in 2020, but that effort failed as she had not yet met a constitutional requirement of being a Florida Bar member for 10 years.
Loser: South Florida students. The county has been trying to integrate Coral Springs into its 911 system since the 2018 shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School. Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony recently testified that four years out, those complications are not resolved, which could cause delays in a response.
