Marlins scoring futility continues in loss to Atlanta

by Margaret Willard

The Marlins are heading into historically bad territory.

With Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Atlanta, Miami now has scored three runs or less in 15 consecutive games. That ties the longest streak of scoring futility in Major League Baseball since the 1979 Chicago Cubs went from Sept. 11-24 without scoring at least four runs.

The last time Miami scored at least four runs goes back to July 29. The Marlins lost that game to the New York Mets.

After losing all four games over the weekend against the Braves, the Marlins are 50-65 and have fallen well out of any playoff contention.
