Two pairs of Democrats and Republicans are competing to succeed Rep. Nick Duran in House District 113, which covers a central portion of Miami-Dade County.
In the Democratic Primary, Biscayne Neighbors Association President Andrés Althabe takes on lawyer A.J. D’Amico, whom Duran endorsed.
Both received local endorsements and raised healthy sums of money, though Althabe attracted criticism for taking donations from condo contractors his organization hired.
On the Republican side, former GOP staffer and self-described “center-right candidate” Vicki Lopez faces Alberto Perosch, a recently registered voter who once described Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “the reincarnation of (Hugo) Chávez made woman.”
