Four candidates to clash over pivotal Miami-Dade County Commission District seat

by carlislewillard

Term limits mean longtime Miami-Dade Commissioner Rebeca Sosa must leave office in November. Four men are running to succeed her and represent District 6 on the county dais.

There’s GOP operative-turned-lobbyist Kevin Marino Cabrera, who enjoys a slight fundraising lead and strong support from many politicians, including former President Donald Trump.

Neck-and-neck with him, money-wise, is Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors Jr., whom Cabrera donated to before entering the race.

They’ve raised about $1 million combined.

They face businessman Dariel Fernandez and Miami Springs Councilman Victor Vazquez (the only Democrat in the race), who trail far behind in dollars held.
