The Miami-Dade Commission underwent upheaval Tuesday, when voters elected one incumbent and two new members to the 13-member legislative body.
Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins who was appointed to her District 8 seat in December 2020, held onto office with 57% of the vote. State Rep. Anthony Rodriguez and Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez won seats in Districts 10 and 12, respectively.
Two other officeholders await Nov. 8 runoff results. Lobbyist Kevin Marino Cabrera and Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors will compete for District 6, while North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime and nonprofit executive Marleine Bastien will square off for District 2.
