Free swimming, diving for public at renovated aquatic center

by carlislewillard

After a three-year renovation, costing nearly $50 million, this week the city-owned Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center reopened its pools to the public. It now features a 27-meter diving platform that’s the highest in the Western Hemisphere, according to city officials.

The public gets in free for lap swimming and diving from now through Oct. 31. To take a dive off the structure designed like a ship’s hull and almost as high as some of Boca Raton’s tallest buildings, plungers need to make special arrangements here, however.

The beachside facility is located at 501 Seabreeze Blvd. Find more about swimming hours here.
