Florida Atlantic’s high hopes for a statement-making win over UCF died in a second-half deluge of points by the visiting Knights, who ran away to a 40-14 victory.
The Owls, now 2-2, trailed by only two points at halftime. However, UCF put the game away with 24 unanswered points in the final two quarters and cruised to the win.
“When you’re playing a team like Central Florida, a good football team, and when you’re playing in the game that can be program-changing for you, you’ve got to make those plays when they come your way,” FAU Coach Willie Taggart said.
