Hillsboro Inlet Park, located at 2700 N. Ocean Blvd., in Pompano Beach is about to get something of an underwater annex.
The nonprofit Shipwreck Park has partnered with the city to create Wahoo Bay. And the new park is about to get its SEAHIVE structures. They are green, engineering innovations developed from University of Miami research.
Not only will these structures serve as a kind of plantar for mangroves, they are also designed to invite sea life. In addition, researchers will be studying how these innovations can absorb wave energy from storms and hurricanes to stop the shore from eroding.
