State Education Board Chair suggests Broward Superintendent’s suspension

by carlislewillard

Broward County Schools Superintendent Vickie Cartwright may be headed for rocky territory as state Education Board Chairman Tom Grady asked state Department of Education staff about the state’s say over her continued employment.

The Education Board met last week about a grand jury report that already led to the previous Broward superintendent’s arrest. Last month, it also prompted Gov. Ron DeSantis to suspend four Broward School Board members and install his own appointees.

Local boards hire and fire their professional leader, Grady, a DeSantis appointee, was told; but Cartwright is now facing a majority of DeSantis appointees on her board.
