Coral Gables Republican Rep. Demi Busatta Cabrera collected more than $103,000 between Aug. 1 and Sept. 9, her best fundraising round by far to defend the seat representing House District 114 she won handily two years ago.
A month and a half before Election Day, Cabrera held about $372,000. Her opponent, Democratic lawyer Adam Benna, had $85,000.
No industry donated more since Aug. 1 than health care. Medical, insurance and pharmaceutical entities donating to her included Wellpath, Pfizer and the Dade County Medical Association.
She spent $8,500, more than half on communications consulting. Benna spent about $300 on general upkeep.
