Winner: Kevin Marino Cabrera. In the home stretch of the District 6 Miami-Dade County Commission race, Cabrera continues racking up endorsements against Jorge Fors Jr. Last week, Miami’s Community Newspapers backed Cabrera. He followed that up by earning the support of West Miami Mayor Eric Diaz-Padron.
Loser: Robert Asencio. A survey found Asencio close behind incumbent U.S. Rep. Carlos Giménez after voters heard “balanced positive bios” about the candidates. That means the race could be close if Asencio gets his message out. The problem? He trails Giménez in fundraising. And without those “positive bios,” Asencio is 10 points down.
