Miami Democratic state Sen. Annette Taddeo is in a “statistical tie” with Republican U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar for Congressional District 27, new internal polling shows.

SEA Polling & Strategic Design surveyed 400 Miami-Dade residents this month. Pollsters found Taddeo holds a 1-point advantage; 47% of respondents prefer her to the incumbent.

The poll had a 4.9-percentage-point margin of error, meaning the race is a toss-up.

Last week, former Florida GOP Chair Al Cárdenas broke party ranks for the first time in four decades to endorse Taddeo over Salazar.

“She puts her country and her state above herself,” he explained.
