The Broward County Inspector General (OIG) has found that a North Lauderdale Commissioner and her campaign treasurer committed felony-level crimes in handling campaign contributions before and after the 2020 election.
Next, prosecutors and the Florida Elections Commission will receive the 287-page report with the finding that Commissioner Regina Martin and her campaign treasurer, Guylaine Similien, “knowingly and willfully” violated state campaign laws including deliberately failing to report cash contributions.
The investigation began with a tip about an election watch party at the Grand Palace Ballroom in North Lauderdale. Neither Martin nor Similien responded to the OIG’s subpoena or interview requests.
