Broward County’s most contested and expensive House District race could also be an indicator of how much voters are concerned with abortion rights being rolled back.

Republican Rep. Chip LaMarca bested his Democratic challenger, Linda Thompson Gonzalez, by 10 points in the 2020 election. They are rematched in a district that leans more Democratic this time, stretching from Palm Beach County’s line to Fort Lauderdale, according to MCI Maps.

LaMarca voted for the law that bans Florida abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy and his challenger is endorsed by Ruth’s List Florida, supporting female politicians who are for abortion rights.
