Three of five new Miami-Dade Commissioners – Micky Steinberg, Anthony Rodriguez and Juan Carlos Bermudez – were determined by the Aug. 23 Primary Election.
On Nov. 8, voters choose the rest in runoffs.
For the District 2 seat covering part of north Miami-Dade, nonprofit executive Marleine Bastien faces North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime. They’re vying to succeed Jean Monestime, who endorsed Bastien.
In District 6 covering north-central Miami-Dade, lobbyist and Donald Trump endorsee Kevin Marino Cabrera faces Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors Jr. to replace Rebeca Sosa, who prefers Fors.
That race got nasty, with Fors suing Cabrera and others for defamation.
