Lobbyist Kevin Marino Cabrera soundly beat Coral Gables Commissioner Jorge Fors Jr. Tuesday to take the District 6 seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission.
With all votes tallied, Cabrera had 61.5% of 52,725 votes cast compared to 38.5% for Fors.
He will succeed term-limited Rebeca Sosa, who must leave office after two decades due to term limits voters approved in 2012.
Cabrera said he is “humbled and honored” by the result.
“Our campaign has always been about putting residents first,” he said. “I look forward to representing the residents of District 6 and ensuring they have a voice at County Hall.”
