FAU women’s soccer loses heartbreaker in Conference USA title game

by

The Florida Atlantic women’s soccer team fell short in the Conference USA championship game, falling 3-2 in double overtime against UTSA.

The Owls finished the season 11-8-2, but the loss cost them an NCAA Tournament bid.

FAU battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the second half with goals by Morgan McDonald and Erin  Simonardottir to send the game into overtime. A potential tying shot by Bri Austin hit the crossbar with four minutes left.

“There’s a lot of different emotions,” FAU Coach Patrick Baker said. “We’re proud of how they fought back, but then we’re also gutted and disappointed.”
