Shevrin Jones: After bleak election beating, Democrats must work, not point fingers

Florida Republicans trounced Democrats at the polls on Election Day to expand their longstanding edge in the Legislature to a supermajority.

That’s because the GOP spent years “building one of the most effective operations in the country” while Democrats got complacent, according to Shevrin Jones.

In a lengthy statement, the Democratic Miami Gardens Senator took his party to task for its stagnancy, lack of focus and murky messaging.

“It’s unproductive to point fingers, particularly because these are not single-cycle problems,” he said, adding that Democrats must “play the long game if we hope to change course in the foreseeable future.”
