Miami-Dade County Commissions have selected their Chair and Vice Chair for the next two years.
On Wednesday, the Commission’s 13 members voted unanimously to make for former Vice Chair and Interim Chair Oliver Gilbert III their full-fledged leader through December 2024.
The Board was divided on the Vice Chair role. Five Commissioners voted for interim Vice Chair Raquel Regalado to keep her post: Marleine Bastien, Juan Carlos Bermudez, Keon Hardemon, Regalado herself and Gilbert, who nominated her.
Eight chose former state Rep. Anthony Rodriguez, who donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to several Commissioners, including Danielle Cohen Higgins, who nominated him.
