Senate President Kathleen Passidomo and House Speaker Paul Renner named committee Chairs for their chambers in the 2022-24 legislative term. Eleven hail from South Florida.
They include Ileana Garcia, Ana Maria Rodriguez, freshman lawmaker Alexis Calatayud and former House Speaker Pro Tempore Bryan Ávila in the Senate. All are from Miami-Dade County Republicans.
Democratic Miami Sen. Jason Pizzo will co-lead a joint committee with Boca Raton Rep. Mike Caruso.
Chairs Renner appointed include Caruso and fellow Republicans Demi Busatta Cabrera of Coral Gables, Juan Fernanez-Barquin of Miami-Dade, Chip LaMarca of Lighthouse Point and future House Speaker Daniel Perez of Miami.
