Lauren’s Kids, a nonprofit helping provide services to survivors of childhood sexual abuse, won a 2022 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for its Safer, Smarter Kids: Second Grade – Safety Superheroes curriculum.
The section of the series in kindergarten netted the group a regional Emmy last year as well.
The organization, founded by now-Sen. Lauren Book, launched a series of videos teaching children safety tips for in-person and online interactions.
“Thank you to the Emmy Awards for recognizing our curriculum and amplifying our message to protect children,” Book said, noting the lessons can help encourage kids to report child sexual abuse.
