A heated race for Sunny Isles Beach Mayor concluded Friday, three days after residents voted to decide whether to keep incumbent Mayor Dana Goldman or give the job to challenger Larisa Svechin.
Svechin won by 20 votes.
Her victory was uncertain the morning after Election Day, when Florida Politics first reported 60 mail-in ballots awaited “cures” due to signature, ID or address issues. At the time, 26 votes separated the candidates with Svechin, a former interim Mayor, leading.
She ultimately kept her lead after more ballots were counted, unseating Goldman in a rematch of their special election contest last year.
