Winner: Dave Aronberg. The Palm Beach County State Attorney once again picked up the Christmas shift for First Appearance hearings, allowing his staff to stay home for the holiday. “It is a small thank you to my hardworking staff to cover First Appearance court and allow my team members to be home with their families on Christmas Day,” he said.

Loser: Rod Velez. Gov. Ron DeSantis has named a replacement for Velez on the Broward County School Board. Velez won the seat in November’s election, but did not fully restore his rights to hold office following a prior felony conviction.
