Winner: Farm Share.
The Homestead-headquartered food bank was named the No. 1 food bank in the U.S. by 24/7 Wall St. The financial news and commentary site looked at rankings compiled by Charity Navigator, a charity oversight organization, to compile the list. Farm Share is a 501(c)(3) organization which has warehouses throughout Florida.
Loser: Miami-Dade County.
The county is at a loss following the passing of Harvey Ruvin, the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts and the county’s longest-serving elected official. Tributes to Ruvin poured in over the holidays for the well-respected leader, remembering his impact on the region. He was 85.
