Two months after Florida Democrats suffered one of their worst elections in modern history, Party Chair Manny Diaz of Miami is resigning.
Democrats lost every statewide race in November and saw their State Legislature representation diminish to 35 Representatives and 12 Senators. But calls for Diaz’s ouster were persistent even before then.
In a Monday letter, Diaz criticized Democrats’ losing strategy of relying on voter registration to drive turnout and only engaging voters around elections. He lamented the party’s lack of “energy, sense of community or urgency.”
“Many continue to lose sight of our mission: to win elections not arguments.”
