After a 2022 trouncing, 10 members of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party are demanding an audit of the organization and the resignation of Chair Robert Dempster, accusing him of mismanagement and campaign finance impropriety.
Writing to now-former state party Chair Manny Diaz, the group – including former Reps. Robert Asencio, Cindy Lerner and former Chairs Juan Cuba and Ricky Junquera – cited three examples of allegedly misspent and misreported funds.
Dempster maintains there’s been “no wrongdoing” and an internal audit is ongoing. He said those complaining represent a fraction of the 257 Executive Committee membership, likening them to a “cheap Freedom Caucus knockoff.”
