U.S. Rep. George Santos’ trail of lies is growing, thanks to his campaign’s sketchy spending that include several unlikely expenses in Miami-Dade.
Santos’ campaign recorded eight expenses of $199.99, one cent short of the cutoff by which candidates must keep receipts. That includes a Miami hotel room charge where rooms cost $600 nightly, the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center said in a complaint.
Santos, who resigned from two House panels Tuesday, also recorded “almost impossible” parking sums, Miami Beach Parking Director Monica Beltran told the Miami Herald, and two meals at a Miami diner whose owner has no record of the checks.
