West Palm Beach-Boca Raton leads 17-cent surge in Florida gas prices

by carlislewillard

Florida saw another 17-cent surge in gas costs last week, when the average price statewide soared to 3.58 cents per gallon.

That “unusual” gain was most pronounced in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton market, according to AAA — The Automotive Group. Motorists there paid an average $3.74 per gallon.

Overall, pump prices rose 32 cents across Florida in the past two weeks.

By Sunday, prices dipped 2 cents. A 2% decline in oil prices since mid-January has some drivers hopeful for a downturn, but AAA says oil investors remain “bullish” as China — the world’s largest oil importer — reopens and demand mounts.
